YEREVAN. - The single water supply operator of Armenia will become known by the end of the year.

Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC), Ruben Nazaryan, stated the aforementioned in the parliament today, introducing the PSRC Action Plan for 2016.

He disagreed with the opinion that the presence of one operator will strengthen the monopoly.

In Nazaryan’s words, the republic has 5 operators currently, and each of them can be considered a monopolist on its own territory, regardless of whether it is big or small: two operators don’t work in one and the same place.

“Of course, we will regulate the work of the future single operator as we do that of several operators now,” he noted.

The one who proposes the lowest tariff will win the tender (apparently, satisfying all the other requirements on the financial state and service quality), he added.
