The ninth convocation parliament general elections have kicked off Friday in Iran, RIA Novosti news agency of Russia reported citing IRNA, the official news agency of Iran.
The election precincts have opened at 8am local time.
Approximately 55 million eligible voters can cast their ballots in these elections.
Nearly 5,000 candidates will vie for the 290 seats in the Iranian Parliament.
As reported earlier, eight Armenians also will contend for parliamentary seats in Iran.
The said Iranian Armenian MP nominees are Karen Khanlarian, Ivet Danielian, Albert Poghosian, Arbi Tahmazian, Andranik Simonian, Zhorzhik Abrahmanian, Vrezh Ter-Martirosian, and Armond Baghramian.
