GYUMRI. – World-renowned Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan on Saturday is giving a charity concert in the shack-filled district of Gyumri, in assistance to the homeless in the second largest city of Armenia. 

The Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter on location informed that several dozens of homeless dwell in this district. 

The concert is held at the yard of the shack of the Gevorgyan family, who “lives” in it ever since the devastating earthquake that hit Gyumri in 1988. 

Geghetsik Gevorgyan, 73, resides in this shack with her three young grandchildren. Her son had died six years ago.

“Here, we are living in inhumane conditions for years on end,” Gevorgyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. “Now, my dream is to have an apartment for my grandchildren.”
