YEREVAN. - Generation change is the arrival of young people at the parliament, who will maintain the traditions of the old ones.

Armenian Parliament Vice President Hermine Naghdalyan, who is also the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction member, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“This issue becomes popular during every election; journalists always write that the “old” are afraid, “the old” will be dismissed, new deputies will come and a generation change will take place. Yes, [President] Serzh Sargsyan announced about a staff juvenation, a process which has always been underway.  And always, in any system of governance and diversification, the principles of maintaining this very divergence at an optimal level work,” Naghdalyan said.

According to her, the representatives of both the old and young generations must work in the parliament.  

“It’s necessary to have a certain proportion of people with experience and knowledge, who will maintain the traditions. But there should also be a certain proportion of those who will have new mentality and progressive ideas. The parliament should include young men, who will acquire experience and knowledge here, getting familiar with the traditions which they will maintain in the future,” the Vice President concluded.
