YEREVAN. – The project, entitled “Enhancing livelihoods in rural communities of Armenia through main-streaming and strengthening agricultural biodiversity conservation and utilization,” has started on Tuesday.

It is implemented by the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia, funded by the Global Environmental Fund, and assisted by the United Nations Environment Programme.

The objective of this project is to ensure enhanced conservation of the agricultural biodiversity in Armenia that supports adaptation to environmental and agricultural challenges, including markets, in the country and provides a sustainable basis for enhanced utilization to improve rural livelihoods.

Its respective target areas are the Ararat plain, Syunik Province, and the Lake Sevan basin and surrounding areas.

A project launch workshop was conducted on the same day.
