YEREVAN. – The Armed Forces of Armenia are carrying out major work to have military means that meet Western standards.
Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan on Tuesday stated the aforesaid during his talk, at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, with scholars.
“We [i.e. Armenia] have weapons that are left as an inheritance from the Soviet years,” Ohanyan said. “And today, huge works are done so we may have means that meet Western standards and [may] develop our domestic industry.”
In the minister’s words, the concept for Armenia’s military industry has been developed, and it was approved by the National Security Council of the country.
“The Military Industry Committee has been formed, which shall be the basis of our military industry,” the Armenian defense minister added.
