YEREVAN. - The Electoral Code of Armenia is the one which has taken into account the remarks and proposals of our international partners.

National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also Spokesperson of the Ruling Republican Party (RPA) of Armenia, told the aforementioned to the journalists after the RPA Supreme Council session, referring to the draft Electoral Code.

According to Sharmazanov, the draft isn’t regressive. “There are various principles, in which we see progress. There is a ground, and this is enough for having a more democratic code,” he said.

And the ground is, according to Sharmazanov, the draft which can be edited in the discussion stage.

The NA Deputy Speaker also referred to the question on why the new draft prohibits publicizing of voter lists. According to Sharmazanov, there is a Constitutional Court decision behind the prohibition, which is obligatory for everyone.
