YEREVAN. - The parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia approximately in the beginning of April 2017.

Head of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, Hovhannes Sahakyan, who is also MP of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

In his words, the specific date for holding the parliamentary elections in the country hasn’t yet been fixed. “The parliamentary elections will be held approximately between 1-10 April 2017,” Sahakyan added, stressing that all the constitutional norms will be observed.

Under the new draft Electoral Code of Armenia, the elections for the new parliament must be held not later than within 50 days after the expiration of the term of office of the current National Assembly (NA). The term of office of the current parliament expires on 31 May 2017.
