YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who also heads the Armenian NA delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA), on Thursday met with head of the Serbian NA standing delegation to CSTO PA, Milovan Drecun, and deputy speaker of the Serbian parliament, Veroljub Arsić. 

Sharmazanov noted that even though relations between the two countries are developing proportionately and in normal fashion, there is potential for further developing these ties.

Also, the interlocutors reflected on the avenues for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Kosovo issue, and the international fight against terrorism. 

The Armenian parliament deputy chairman noted that, unlike Kosovo, Nagorno-Karabakh has nothing to do with the precept of territorial integrity, since it has never been part of Azerbaijan. Eduard Sharmazanov added that as a result of international terrorism, around 20 thousand Syrian Armenians have found refuge in Armenia.

Arsić, for his part, stated that although Armenia-Serbia relations are developing rapidly, there are domains which need to be further intensified. Deputy speaker of the Serbian NA likewise noted that the Karabakh conflict and the Kosovo issue are at different dimensions.

In addition, the Armenian and Serbian MPs discussed collaboration within various international organizations, and underscored constructive work.
