YEREVAN. - The exhibition entitled “Iranian art” has kicked off in the National Gallery of Armenia today.

According to Director of Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Majid Mola-Nourozi, the Iranian miniature art has a thousand years of history.   

“Each miniature painter painted in his own way during his period, but the traditions of miniature art have so strongly maintained that the slight changes which have taken place are noticeable only to a narrow circle of professionals. Over 50 works by more than 25 young miniature painters are presented here,” Mola-Nourozi said.

The displayed miniatures, he continued, are mainly used for carpet decorations, and there are also those which are made on the basis of the Iranian literature, songs and tales.

For his part, Armenian Culture Deputy Minister Nerses Ter-Vardanyan assured that the Armenian-Iranian cultural cooperation has recently entered a new stage. “And all the pre-requisites for this are available both from the geographical viewpoint and considering the peoples’ friendship. The signing of different memoranda between the parties can also be added here, this already being an efficient step in this direction.  

The recently signed memorandum between the National Gallery of Armenia and Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is the best example of the aforementioned,” Ter-Vardanyan stressed.

According to the Deputy Minister, the opened exhibition is the totality of Iranian contemporary and traditional art.

The exhibition “Iranian Art” will run in Yerevan till April 11.
