GYUMRI. - The Regional Investigative Department of Shirak has launched a criminal case into the death of a newborn baby at Austrian Children’s Hospital in Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia.

Gyumri resident A. Petrosyan today informed that his wife gave birth to a boy by Caesarian section at Gyumri’s maternity clinic at about 06:00 pm yesterday, following which the baby’s condition grew worse. At about 04:00 am today the baby was transferred to Austrian Children’s Hospital in Gyumri. Howver, the baby died at about 07:00 am.   

According to A. Petrosyan, the incident happened due to unconscientious treatment and  improper performance of professional duties on behalf of Gyumri maternity clinic workers.

The Regional Investigative Department of Shirak has launched a criminal case on the basis of the aforementioned information. Medical-forensic expert examination has been commissioned and the medical history has been seized.
