Co-rapporteurs from the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) of the Council of Europe, and representatives from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) on Monday arrived in Armenia.

The objective of this delegation’s three-day visit is to discuss the ongoing draft electoral reform in the country, according to the Venice Commission website.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that the Venice Commission co-rapporteurs and the OSCE/ODIHR representatives are expected to hold talks with the parliamentary factions and NGOs of Armenia.

The preliminary version of the new Electoral Code of the country has been sent to the Venice Commission, for expert opinion. Although the Venice Commission has not yet expressed its respective position, the Armenian government has already made it public.

The new Electoral Code of Armenia shall be adopted by June 1.
