YEREVAN. – The Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of Armenia, Davit Lokyan, on Monday met with governor Mohammadali Najafi of Gilan Province of Iran.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that, first, the minister welcomed the guests, who are in Armenia to discuss the prospects for collaboration between Gilan and Ararat Province of Armenia. Lokyan stressed that relations with Iran are of vital importance to Armenia.
Also, the Armenian minister underscored the initiative to carry out decentralized cooperation, and expressed the hope that mutually beneficial cooperation will be conducted between the two provinces.
Governor Najafi, for his part, expressed a conviction that Gilan Province can collaborate with Ararat Province in the domains of agriculture, fishery, and tourism. Also, he informed that his delegation will visit Ararat Province on Tuesday, and get familiarized on location with the opportunities for cooperation.
In addition, the interlocutors conferred on several other matters regarding the implementation of joint projects.
