YEREVAN. - One of the reasons why gasoline is cheaper in Georgia is its import from Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, Artak Shaboyan, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) of Armenia, said in the parliament today.

“According to the information of our colleagues, the cost of that import is significantly lower,” he added.

As to the tax burden, VAT and excise tax are imposed on imported gasoline both in Georgia and Armenia. But, according to Shaboyan, the tax burden in 1 ton of imported gasoline is lower in Georgia.
