YEREVAN. – An incident took place while ago between the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front members and the police at Yerevan’s Liberty Square.
The police formed a chain and didn’t allow the protestors to launch their march from the Liberty Square, noting that they are thus deviating from the previously announced route, Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent reports.
“New Armenia”member Varuzhan Avetisyan negotiated with Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valery Osipyan for several minutes, following which the police allowed them to move to Baghramyan Avenue.
At the moment the march participants are moving along Baghramyan Avenue towards Proshyan Street where the headquarters of the EU Delegation to Armenia are located. The protestors will lodge with the EU Delegation their complaint letter on the presence of political prisoners in Armenia.
