The man, who was killed as a result of beatings in Istanbul, Turkey, was a 67-year-old Istanbul Armenian by the name of Giragos Karaoğlanoğlu.
Ara Koçunyan, Chief Editor of Jamanak Armenian daily of Istanbul, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, as he commented on the recent news which Aktifhaber website of Turkey had disseminated.
In his words, the information, according to which Karaoğlanoğlu had turned his house into a brothel and was killed by a “patron,” is not accurate.
“This 67-year-old person had been paralyzed, he was confined to bed, [and] he had a caretaker,” Koçunyan said. “According to the reports of the incident, the man died as a result of the violence by the caretaker.”
Ara Koçunyan added that a misinformation on this incident was disseminated because the Turkish media had reported the news on two murders in Istanbul under one article.
