YEREVAN. – Aggression from a country, which prefers its own interests over the interests of another country in the settlement of a conflict, is expected nowadays, Hellenic Parliament member Garyfallia (Liana) Kanelli on Wednesday said at Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.
Kanelli, accompanied by Armenia National Assembly Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, had come to Yerablur to honor the Armenian military servicemen who had fallen during the Karabakh War and during the four-day battles, in early April, along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani opposing forces (PHOTOS).
As per the Greek MP, even though this is not the first case of Azerbaijani aggression, everyone hopes that it will be the last.
Reflecting on the “prospect” of Azerbaijan declaring her persona non grata for visiting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) without the “permission” of the Azerbaijani authorities, Kanelli noted that she visited Armenia and Artsakh to support the Armenian mothers who have lost their young children.
The Greek MP added that she visited Karabakh to see with her own eyes what is occurring there and to voice it to the international community.
In her words, the Armenian Genocide must be condemned just like the Holocaust, so that history does not repeat.
Sharmazanov, for his part, assured that with such visits, Azerbaijan’s aggression can be voiced within international platforms.
Garyfallia Kanelli also paid a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, and paid tribute to the victims of this tragedy.
