STEPANAKERT. – The operational situation along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani opposing forces remained the same, from late Sunday night to early Monday morning.

During this time the adversary violated the verbal agreement to cease fire more than 50 times along the entire frontline, and by way of rifle weaponry.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) Defense Army informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the Azerbaijani armed forces, however, also fired from a mortar in a northeasterly (NKR Martakert Region) direction of the contact line

As a result of the adversary’s violation of the said verbal agreement, NKR Defense Army serviceman Erik Matevosyan (born in 1991) and Azat Barsamyan (born in 1996) sustained gunshot wounds at the military positions located in a northerly directions, and from the shots fired by the adversary.

Also, the Azerbaijani side launched a diversionary reconnaissance infiltration attempt comprising about 20 people, at around 1am, in an easterly (Akn) direction of the line of contact. The Karabakh armed forces, however, detected this infiltration attempt in timely fashion, and they pushed this Azerbaijani unit back.

“Vanguard units of the [NKR] Defense Army continue confidently carrying out their military task and controlling the operational situation along the line of contact between the opposing forces,” the respective statement reads.
