YEREVAN. – Today Turkey’s genocidal policy is conducted in the Middle East.

Hassan Hamdan, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Council of Representatives (parliament) of Iraq, noted the aforesaid at his talk Monday with vice president Eduard Sharmazanov of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

The NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that, first, Sharmazanov welcomed the visiting Iraqi delegation, which is in capital city Yerevan to attend the second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, which was held on April 23.

The Armenian parliament deputy speaker underscored the development of relations with the Kurdish and Yazidi peoples, and the joint battle to prevent genocides. 

Reflecting on the Turkish and Islamic State policies toward the region, he noted that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam. Eduard Sharmazanov added that there are regional countries, which attempt to give a religious overtone to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In addition, the Armenian NA vice president expressed concern by the actions being taken in the Middle East, against the Kurdish and Yazidi peoples.

Hamdan, for his part, expressed support in connection with the genocide that befell the Armenian people over one hundred years ago, and noted that today this genocidal policy is conducted in the Middle East.

The interlocutors also discussed the matter of national minorities.

In addition, they highlighted the idea of starting anew the strengthening and history of the friendship between the Armenian and Kurdish peoples.
