YEREVAN. - The current authorities of Armenia must stop clutching at offices, even out of the instinct of self-preservation. This practice has sputtered out, head of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) faction Levon Zurabyan said in the parliament Tuesday.  

In his words, to come out of the difficult situation, mutually agreed and controllable transition to democracy, as well as free and fair elections is needed. Only thereby it is possible to restore the confidentiality in the future of the country and direct all the efforts at preserving the state, raising its defense potential and developing technology.  

“The consensus of the authorities, opposition and civil society concerning the Electoral Code should be the first step,” Zurabyan concluded.
