The dismissal of three high-ranking servicemen is aimed at the further improvement of the governing system, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told journalists Wednesday.

“The dismissals certainly have to do with the situation and are aimed to further improve the governing system,” Ohanyan said.

To the question of Armenian News - NEWS.am as to why they aren’t held criminally liable if they had omissions during the war, the Minister noted that they won’ t be held criminally liable since their activity is not subject to criminal liability.

“In the army, criminal cases are launched under the supervision of law enforcement authorities in the framework of relevant investigation. This activity is coordinated. Like in all other institutions, there are a lot of criminal cases launched in the army, by the end of which relevant conclusions are made. As to their activity, I must say the following: the Defense Army properly completed its mission in the territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), achieving success and depriving the adversary of its tactical priorities.   

The army is not the institution which can be said not to have taken corresponding measures on its own in struggling against negative phenomena,” he said.
