YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday received president Oleg Belozerov of Russian Railways (RZD) JSC, which has assumed the asset management of the Armenian railways.

The Presidential Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Sargsyan stressed that Armenia considers the development of cooperation in the transport sector to be an important component of Armenian-Russian strategic relations.

Belozerov reported on the progress of the works toward improving the railway infrastructure in Armenia.

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors reflected on the work carried out so far to modernize and to raise the safety level of the Armenian railways, and conferred on current projects, the avenues for resolving existing problems, and the prospects for development.
