YEREVAN. - Head of Armenia's General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA), Artem Movsesyan, has been relieved from that post. 

Spokesperson for the Armenian PM, Gohar Poghosyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that Hovik Abrahamyan signed the corresponding decision Tuesday.

Artem Movsesyan has been dismissed upon his own application. He had been in that post since 2004.  

The media outlets earlier disseminated hearsay on Movsesyan’s resignation, allegedly in connection with the corruption scandal with German Lufthansa airlines. However, the GDCA spokesperson Ruben Grdzelyan dismissed this information.  

According to the press, Movsesyan had required from the German Lufthansa airlines large bribe for providing license for the latter’s activity in the Armenian market. The airline’s representatives complained to the Armenian leadership, as a result of which it was decided to dismiss the GDCA Head.
