MOSCOW. - Moscow is surprised at the installment of the statue of one of the founders of the Armenian Legion of Wehrmacht, General Garegin Nzhdeh.

Official Spokesperson for the Russian MFA, Maria Zakharova, told the aforementioned to RIA Novosti.

“Everyone knows very well our position on the Great Patriotic War. And our position on the revival of any forms of Nazism, neo-Nazism and extremism is also well-known. This stance is enshrined by the international documents. It is unclear for us why the mentioned statue has been installed, since we all know about the feat of the Armenian people: this is an immortal feat of the Armenian of the Great Patriotic War, WWII period,” he said.

Garegin Nzhdeh (31 December 1886 – 21 December 1955) is an Armenian state and military figure, prominent ideologist of the Armenian national movement and an Armenian hero. Thanks to him, Bolsheviks’ plan to annex Zangezur to Azerbaijan following the example of Karabakh and Nakhchivan failed.
