YEREVAN. - Russia should understand that Armenia is an independent country and giving assessment to our heroes is not within the functions of the Russian officials, especially if these assessments have absolutely nothing to do with the reality.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) MP Zaruhi Postanjyan from Heritage Party said the aforementioned at a press-conference Tuesday.

In her words, the heroism of prominent Armenian state and military figure Garegin Nzhdeh is invaluable. “And this heroism does not coincide with Russia’s interest today. We were able to save Syunik exactly thanks to Nzhdeh’s foresight.  Of course, this worries both the Azerbaijani and Russian officials, who have common interest with Azerbaijan,” Postanjyan noted.

According to the MP, Russia has not abandoned its imperialistic goals. “Currently, Russia is making statements pleasant to Azerbaijan, since it aims to involve the latter in the Eurasian Economic Union. And for the sake of this goal, Russia is ready for everything,” Postanjyan added.

According to the statement of the Official Spokesperson for the Russian MFA Maria Zakharova, Moscow is surprised at the installment of the statue of one of the founders of the Armenian Legion of Wehrmacht, General Garegin Nzhdeh, in Yerevan.
