YEREVAN. – Gagik Melikyan, Secretary of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly Faction, stated that a temporary peace was reached during the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents’ meeting that took place Monday in Saint Petersburg, Russia, under the patronage of the Russian president, according to Zhamanak newspaper.
“At the least, [the fact] that there are no accountability benchmarks for the party violating the ceasefire already means that there are no reliable guarantees that will restrain Azerbaijan.
“After the meeting in Saint Petersburg, we need to take a look at all that is happening in Armenia. How will the Republic of Armenia use this time, or timing?
“The problem is that to which foreign policy objectives and calculations our domestic changes, improvement of domestic life (…) should serve,” wrote Zhamanak.
