The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), Council of Europe, will adopt a report on Azerbaijan.
Commission’s delegation visited Azerbaijan from 27 September to 1 October 2010, Council of Europe press service reported. The delegation members met with representatives of all relevant ministries, public officials, human rights NGOs and minority groups in Baku and Lenkoran.
“During its visit, ECRI´s delegation gathered information on the implementation of the recommendations it made to the authorities in its previous report of 2007 and discussed new issues that have emerged since,” the statement reads.
After ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in early 1990s, the commission will hardly find any problems regarding racism and intolerance, as the main ethnic minority, namely 400,000 Armenians, were exiled from Azerbaijan long ago.
