One of the security threats that we observe is NATO enlargement and its drawing near the borders of our countries. 

Victor Vasiliev, Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), told the aforesaid to Interfax news agency.

He noted that this situation will be reflected on their respective document—the CSTO Collective Security Strategy until the year 2025.

In Vasiliev’s, words, this strategy specifies the security threats which the CSTO member countries—including Armenia—face.

“As for some response measures, this matter is of operational nature, and it will be resolved during strategy development by our countries, [and] based on the actions by the [North Atlantic] Alliance,” he noted. “CSTO does not task itself with a confrontation with NATO. The draft strategy states that we are open for cooperation and partnership with all countries and organizations.”
