The Russian border guards in Armenia on Wednesday detained two persons, who illegally crossed the Armenian-Turkish border, by swimming across the Araks River. 

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service  Border Guard Department in Armenia that, during initial questioning, these detainees said they are Afghan citizens, and they were planning to get to Europe via Armenia.

During inspection, a backpack was found in their possession, and it contained personal effects and two mobile phones.

On the same day, they were handed over to the National Security Service of Armenia officers, who are checking their account.
