Annually 8 million cubic meters of sewage flows into Syunik rivers

Sewage flows into Vorotan , Gorisget, and Voghchi rivers due to dilapidated conditions of sewage treatment plants in Kapan, Kajaran, Sisian cities of the Syunik marz, reports the  EcoLur.

There are no sewage treatment plants in Meghri River basin. As of January 1 of 2014 the annual amount of sewage which dumped into the rivers of Syunik made  approximately 8.0 million m3. This is mentioned in the "2016-2021 South Basin Management Action Plan. "

According to the source , more than 60 % of sewerage systems in the cities of Syunik needs to be repaired. Due to their shabby conditions the  sewage frequently dumps into the streets of Agarak, and , sometimes ,into Meghri cities.

It has been determined that to construct sewage treatment plants  and collectors in Sisian will cost  13524.0 million drams, in Goris 20158.0 million drams, in Kapan  33458.0 million drams, in Meghri 1464.4.1 million drams, in Kajaran 2565.1 million drams, and in  Agarak  1464.4 million drams.
