YEREVAN. – The flight from Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan to Istanbul has been delayed due to the military coup attempt in Turkey.
Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the website of Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan that the said flight was scheduled for departure at 5:20am, but it has been delayed for eight hours and is now scheduled for departure at 1pm.
On Friday evening, media reported about a military coup attempt in Turkey. Military vehicles appeared on the streets of Ankara and Istanbul, and there were shootings and explosions.
A group of Turkish military officers announced about seizing power to restore constitutional order, and ensure human rights and freedoms in the country.
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, however, stated that the ongoing developments are unlawful.
And Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that the coup attempt has failed and it will be completely suppressed.
