President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko regrets concerning the decision of the Sejm of Poland on recognition of events in Volyn in 1943-1945 as genocide and urges to return to reconciliation and unity, he wrote on his Facebook, UNIAN reported.

Poroshenko wrote that he regrets the decision of Polish Sejm, as many would like to use it for political speculation. However, they should to return to John Paul II's precept and should forgive and ask for forgiveness.

Only with joint steps they can come to Christian reconciliation and unity, he said. Only together they will be able to find out all facts of tragic chapters of their common history. He expressed hope that Ukraine and Poland will continue moving along this path.
