In the second half of 2017 the Russian Polymetal company plans to increase monthly production up to 50 thousand tons of ore  in Kapan gold and polymetallic mine. The company announced that news at the presentation of the results of the second quarter of 2016. In order to achieve that goal Polymetal (as represented by its subsidiary company in Armenia ) is planning to increase the motivation  of the staff and  to improve the engineering works of the company . Among other things, the company will apply new approaches to the preservation of tunnels. Before Polymetal starts increasing the production, it will carry out a preliminary research of the underground space.

Polymetal’s Armenian mine has the smallest production volume ( Kapan mine is the same Shahumyan mine) among the other 8. In the first half of 2016 there has been developed only 64 thousand tons of ore. As for metal concentrate,  according to the recalculation of pure metal, there have been produced 3.4 ounces of gold , 100.000 silver, 139 tons of copper, and 705 tons of zinc . Polymetal in Armenia appointed 43 -year-old Dmitry Ushakov as a managing director, who will supervise the geological research, including, in other areas of Armenia - Lichkvaz gold mine ( which is not operating  ) .
