In the period of its chairmanship in the OSCE, Germany has decided to focus on the unresolved conflicts in the OSCE area, including those in Nagorno-Karabakh and Transdniester.

OSCE Chairman and head of the German Foreign Office, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, stated the aforementioned Wednesday, urging Moldavia and Transdniester to engage in confidence building and fill with content the resumed talks aimed at the conflict settlement, TASS reports.

“Moldavia and Transdniester must enhance confidence and fill the talks with content,” he noted. Steinmeier also noted that the resumption of talks on the Transniester conflict settlement in the “five plus two” format (Moldavia, Transdniester, OSCE, Russia, Ukraine and observers from EU and U.S.) is an important stage on the way to the conflict settlement.

“The confidence can be restored and positives dynamics can be achieved in the conflict settlement only if the sides together agree on the solution of practical matters,” he said. Steinmeier also stressed that in the period of its chairmanship in the OSCE, Germany has decided to “focus on the unresolved conflicts in the OSCE area, including those in Nagorno-Karabakh and Transdniester”.

At the same time, the FM expressed confidence that the “five plus two” format is the platform in the framework of which it is possible to achieve “a long-term and just solution” to the conflict.
