The international human rights organization Amnesty International (AI) demanded from Turkish authorities to clarify the fate of the possible instigators, standing behind the failed armed coup in the country, organization’s expert Andrew Gardner stated in Istanbul.

According to him, many of those detained in connection with the shortage of places in prisons are being kept in gyms, often in inhumane conditions, Die Welt reported.

They should have an opportunity to communicate with families and to have access to lawyers, Gardner emphasized. He also added that the public still has no access to the common list indicating where detainees are held. The organization also specifies that, those accused, perhaps,are subject to torture by representatives of law enforcement agencies. Ankara denies these allegations, DW reported.
