Member of the Turkish parliament Selina Dogan, who has Armenian roots, raised the issue of safety of national minorities, especially in the political atmosphere that developed in Turkey after a failed coup attempt.

According to the source, speaking in the Turkish parliament, Dogan touched upon the need to address the problems of representatives of all national minorities, Akunq.net reported.

Dogan also noted that representatives of national minorities living in Turkey, have been the object of hatred. She stressed that changes are needed, not only in law but also in the minds of Turkish society: “First of all, we, the politicians, have to be more attentive to our speeches. When those in power say: ‘I apologize for the expression, Armenian’ imagine what the addresses of these statement might say or think”.
