YEREVAN. - Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan has paid a surprise visit to Nubarashen criminal-executive institution.

In the framework of his visit, Tatoyan had tête-à-tête meetings with Heritage Party representatives Armen Martirosyan and Davit Sanasaryan, political analyst Andrias Ghukasyan and Sasna Tsrer armed group member Arayik Khandoyan, the Human Rights Defender’s Office reports.  

The Ombudsman aimed to learn about the conditions they are kept in and the state of ensuring their rights.  Relevant notes will be sent to the preliminary investigation authorities as a result of the tête-à-tête meetings.  A. Martirosyan, D. Sanasaryan, A. Ghukasyan and A. Khandoyan presented no complaints regarding the conditions they are kept in and the treatment of medical assistance organization.  

The surprise monitoring visits to the criminal executive institutions and other detention areas will henceforth be of continuous nature.
