Presidents of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan adopted a declaration as a result of the trilateral summit in Baku.

This is the first trilateral meeting at the level of the three countries’ presidents, but Moscow considers “the demand for such a format quite apparent”.

According to the Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov, the three countries “face similar problems” in the areas of economics and counter-terrorism, RIA Novosti reports.

The Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani suggested holding the next summit in a trilateral Russia-Iran-Azerbaijan format in Iran.  “The measures taken by our states create a framework for dialogue also aimed at the regional cooperation of the three states. I am honored to suggest holding the meeting at the level of the ministers and heads of our states in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Rouhani said at the meeting with the Russian and Azerbaijani leaders.
