YEREVAN. – The friends of Artur Sargsyan, who had delivered food to the Sasna Tsrer armed group, which took over a police station but later surrendered in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan in July, on Saturday held a sale of his works in Yerevan Vernissage—a large open-air market that mainly features a collection of traditional Armenian art works, and primarily for tourists. 

Samvel Tadevosyan, a friend of Sargsyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that people are coming to the Vernissage since early morning, just to buy Sargsyan’s creations.

“Today, we are selling jewelry boxes and clocks,” he added.

Armen Khachatryan, another friend of Artur, stressed that the proceeds from this sale will be transferred to a bank account that has been opened so that later, when Sargsyan is released, he may use it at his discretion.

On July 26, Artur Sargsyan had broken through a police wall with a vehicle loaded with food, and delivered food to members of the Sasna Tsrer.

He is charged with aiding this armed group.
