Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif proposed to hold a trilateral meeting—between Turkey, Russia, and Iran—within the framework of regional interests, to settle the Syrian crisis, according to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

During his visit to Ankara, Zarif met with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu as well as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and PM Binali Yıldırım.

During the talks it was noted that maintaining the territorial integrity of Syria is a priority for both Turkey and Iran. 

The parties also expressed in favor of further strengthening political cooperation, reported IRNA news agency of Iran. In this connection, the interlocutors discussed the Turkish president’s possible visit to Tehran in the coming weeks.
