YEREVAN. – The Deputy Chief of Police of Armenia and Commander of Internal Troops Levon Yeranosyan, who was sent on a one-month vacation after the events that had occurred in capital city Yerevan on July 30 and 31, has been recalled forthwith.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that this decision was unexpected for Yeranosyan.

Police, however, do not specify the reason.

“Levon Yeranosyan was recalled proceeding from needs of the service,” we were told.

The violations, which were committed on July 30 and 31 against protesters and journalists in Yerevan, were taking place at Yeranosyan’s presence.

And his brother, Lernik, also a police officer, was among the main “actors,” as he was throwing smoke grenades at the demonstrators.

Subsequently, Lernik Yeranosyan was sacked, whereas Levon Yeranosyan was sent on a one-month vacation.
