The state security service of Georgia has prevented a terrorist act. 

Seven people were detained, including a police officer of Poti city, on charges of having ties with a terrorist organization, reported Gruzia Online news agency of Georgia.

A service representative informed that the detainees were planning to bomb the Russia-Armenia natural gas pipeline that passes through Saguramo village.

Five Georgian citizens are arrested on charges of plotting a terror attack.

In addition, police patrol officer was arrested on charges of exceeding official powers, and another person—for not informing about this crime.

To carry out their plan, the members of this gang had gone to a forest near the Zhinvali-Shatili highway on August 20, to acquire explosive devices and weapons from their hideaway.

But they were apprehended while getting the explosives.

Automatic weapons also were found. 

In addition, a map, which was showing the places where they were planning to bomb the gas pipeline, was confiscated from the home computer of one of the arrestees. 

The counterintelligence department of the state security service of Georgia is conducting the respective investigation.
