A consultation with the representatives of brandy and wine producing companies took place in the Armenian Government on Wednesday. The meeting was presided by the Armenian Prime Minster Hovik Abrahamyan.

During the consultation, a number of issues related to the process of grape procurement, as well as possibilities and prospects for the development of the area were discussed.

The Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan reported on the activities carried out for the organization of the procurement process. According to him, to ensure smooth procurement season, the Ministry actively cooperates with all the procuring organizations.

Thereafter, the company representatives briefed the PM on their issues, proposals and observations. Apart from this, issues related to export and loan rates provided to the economic entities, facilitation of tax and customs administration and improvement of the legal framework were discussed.

PM Abrahamyan underscored the importance of the close cooperation between the Armenian Government and private sector aimed at the development of the field, implementation of continuous steps to that end, as well as increase of production and export volumes.  

At the same time, the PM urged the representatives of the procuring organizations to organize the grape procurement activities properly, without disturbing the villagers.

Abrahamyan also noted that the Government is ready to support the procurers and farm entities in that issue.  “Our issue is to support the procuring enterprises by all means possible so that the latter can procure maximal amount of grape without creating problems for vine-growers,” he noted.
