Tsaghkahovit villagers claimed that the Sasna Tserer’s member Arayik Khandoyan run for the head of the village, said Khandoyan’s wife Anush Hayrapetyan in an interview with the NEWS.am, stressing that her husband had long wanted to run for the mayor’s elections. " He decided to run for the mayor’s elections two years ago. Now, when the villagers have required him to place his candidacy, he gave his consent,” she  said.

In response to the claim of member of the Founding Parliament Alek Yenigomshyan to decline from his candidacy, Arayik Khandoyan answered that he  was not going to do that. According to Yenigomshyan the Sasna Tserer completely shares the viewpoint of the Founding Parliament  that it is impossible to change the situation by means of elections under the current regime and that it was Khandoyan’s personal decision, which was not  discussed .

Arayik Khandoyan is accused in accordance with the article 218 part 3 , point 1 ( for kidnapping ) and paragraph 3 of the article 235 of the Criminal Code  (for  illegal purchasing , selling, storing , transporting   weapons and ammunition) . He is arrested.
