YEREVAN. – The Armenian side stands ready to discuss the matter of rendering assistance to Italy that has suffered from an earthquake, if such a request is made by the Italian side.

Nana Gndoyan, Deputy Head of Media and Public Relations Division at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“In accordance with international rules, the [affected] country itself asks for help,” said Gndoyan. “So far, Italy has not asked for help.”

Several strong tremors were recorded early Wednesday morning in central Italy.

According to latest data, the death toll in the quake has risen to 247.
