YEREVAN. – The draft on declaring amnesty, ahead of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, is almost ready, according to Zhoghovurd newspaper.

“Zhoghovurd has learned that this amnesty promises to be unprecedentedly comprehensive.

“It is believed that the amnesty will apply to those sentenced to at least up to five years in prison. In addition, it is not ruled out that it will apply also to those convicts that have committed a particularly serious crime, who have served most of their sentences.

“By the way, it is believed that the draft on amnesty will be ready and sent to Parliament for approval, by the end of next week,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
