The medical experts ruled sane Armenian businessman Aram Petrosyan, who took hostages in the Citibank branch in Moscow’s Bolshaya Nikitskaya street in August, his attorney, Stanislav Maltsev, told RIA Novosti.

“Yesterday Petrosyan was subjected to expert examination. The doctors told him he is sane and healthy, but we haven’t yet received the document with the results of the expert examination,” Maltsev noted.

In the evening on August 24, bankrupt Armenian businessman Aram Petrosyan took four people hostage in a Citibank branch in downtown Moscow, and threatened to blow up this branch.

Later, however, he released the hostages and surrendered to Russian law enforcement.  

In addition, it was found out that the object, which he said was a bomb, was fake.

During his interrogation, Aram Petrosyan said with this action, he simply wanted to draw attention to his bankruptcy.

Petrosyan faces charges under Article 206 (2) of the Russian Criminal Code (capture of two or more hostages, with objects used as arms), which stipulates confinement for 6 to 15 years.
