We hope that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process will not last for years. But we certainly cannot wait for an unexpected progress on this matter.

Ambassador James Warlick, US Co-Chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group, told the abovementioned to Interfax news agency. He noted this when asked whether there are any deadlines for reaching an agreement on the resolution of this conflict.

In Warlick’s words, even though the respective negotiations require time and many discussions, there is an avenue toward progress, there are concrete proposals, and the presidents are engaged in them.

The Minsk Group US co-chair noted that although many people call this problem a frozen conflict, it is a very active in conflict. He said the situation today is much more perilous, since we witness to the use of missiles and several other heavy weapons. The American diplomat expressed a view that there is a risk of escalation of the conflict, and with the use all this heavy weaponry. He added that there is rather a risk of miscalculation, which can lead to negative consequences.

James Warlick noted, however, that Russia, the US, and France can work together, as the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, in seeking ways to settle the Karabakh conflict.
