YEREVAN. – For a long time it was said that President Serzh Sargsyan will declare amnesty on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, according to Zhamanak newspaper.

“But according to the information by First News’ [i.e. the news department of the state-run Public Television of Armenia] informed officials close to the authorities, there will be no amnesty on the 25th anniversary of independence.

“At this time, no document concerning amnesty has been submitted to the National Assembly. There may be an amnesty by the end of the year, but not this month,” wrote Zhamanak.
