YEREVAN. – A corridor between Iran, Armenia, Georgia and Russia will enable to improve reliability of Armenia’s electric system, Electric Networks of Armenia CEO Karen Harutyunyan told reporters.

The director general said he is happy to announce that the company will use the corridor not only to export, but to import electricity. He explained that electricity can be imported from Georgia when it is sold at a lower rate.

The main task of the company is to enhance reliability, and the corridor that is under construction will help to solve it.

“With more integration into a regional market, the republic [of Armenia] will have an opportunity to strengthen reliability of its electric system,” he added.
